Today we heard the stories from Daniel 3:1-30 and 6:1-23 when King Nebuchadnezzar tried to force people to worship a golden statue. Three men named Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego refused, and were thrown into a fiery furnace. Later Daniel was asked to worship King Darius but when he said he would only worship God, he was thrown into a lion’s den. In both cases they stood up for what they believed, trusted God, and He helped them survive dangerous situations. We learned that we can also trust God. For our craft, the younger grades painted lion’s manes with plastic forks and the older kids made fleece lion pillows to help them remember the story and give them something to hug if they feel afraid.
