It Takes A Villiage

Friends in Christ,

The phrase “It Takes a Village” took on a whole new meaning to me this past week.

On Wednesday I felt like I was getting a cold and took some aspirin and put on a warm sweater, as the day wore on I realized that I was not getting better but rather felt my symptoms worsening. I then realized that I needed to take a Covid test….unfortunately it was positive.

I started thinking of all the responsibilities I had for the weekend ahead. I was so relieved when I made the call to Pastor Dave and he kindly said he would be willing to preach on Sunday and officiate at two baptisms. Patty Seewald without hesitation said she would be happy to hand out the 3rd and 4th grade Bibles during worship, Doreen Evans said she would greet the Baptismal families and see to their needs, Kelvin Miller offered to be the assisting minister at the 8:00am worship and Birdie Olson kindly said she would be assisting minister at 9:30am, and Kjirsten Pearson reprinted the worship plans and baptismal certificates to revise them for Sunday.

In a matter on an hour everything was covered for Sunday worship. I was relieved to know that I could rest easy, that my responsibilities were covered. That is what it means to be a community of believers.

St Paul writes in the letter to Galatians “ Bear one another’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ”

What a blessing we all have to be a part of the St James “village”  where indeed we find folks willing to share in our burdens when needed and called upon.

May we continue to be a resource to one another in times of need and to celebrate our community of faith!

Blessings!

Pastor Nancy
