This Sunday, December 11th at 5:30 we are going to have the Tree Lighting here at St. James. We will gather in the narthex, there will be a time for singing carols and sharing some hot chocolate and Christmas cookies.

A special feature of our time together will be our guest “ tree lighters”, Inez Clover who has been a member of St James since the late 1950’s, Inez will share the honor of “flipping the switch” with Michael Tyler who was baptized this past July so Michael has been a member of St James since 2022!

The hymn that came to my mind when I thought about this upcoming event was that familiar hymn “O God our help in ages past our hope for years to come.”

St James has been blessed with a rich history of faithful members who have worked together to build a strong community of service and proclamation. Through the years they have passed their faith to new generations who carry that faith and hope into the future.

These are exciting days for St. James as we anticipate a new lead pastor and ways in which our community of faith can continue to grow. We celebrate in this season of Advent that our God is the same yesterday, today and forever!
