Grace and peace to you in the name of Jesus Christ!
Think of a doorway. On one side is what has been - the past. Life there has happened. On the other side is what might be - the future. Life there is unknown. In the threshold, we find ourselves a work in process. How do we navigate the confusion, disorientation, and displacement as we move forward?
Advent is a wonderful time for these questions. It is a season that recognizes the ‘in-between’ nature of our faith. Jesus Christ was born in Bethlehem - a past event. Jesus Christ will come again - a future hope. Christians live in the threshold between these comings.
In Threshold: An Advent Journey, I explore the liminal space that exists in life’s threshold moments. This devotional series begins on the first day of Advent, November 28. Sign up today and you will receive your first devotional early on Sunday morning. Each day of the Advent season you will find a different Inspirational Image, reflection, and prayer to brighten your day and deepen your faith.
You are invited to share this devotion with friends and neighbors. Make sure they use the St. James Lutheran daily devotion link and it won’t cost them. St. James Lutheran provides these devotions as part of our outreach to the larger community.
I look forward to waving to you during worship - whether I “see” you in-person or online. St. James Lutheran worships at 8:00 a.m. (inside and in the parking lot) and 9:30 a.m. (inside and online). Together, let’s walk through this Advent season together in Christ.
In Christ’s Light,
Pastor Walt
