Early Christmas Gifts

Grace and peace to you in the name of Jesus Christ!

On the day before the night before the night before Christmas, I write with anticipatory joy. In less than forty-eight hours, we will once again celebrate the Incarnation of God’s eternal love. Through traditions, sacred and otherwise, we will gather for this special holiday. I pray that this Christmas will be a time of meaning and connection for you and your family.

In this week’s Ministry Moment, I have a few gifts to share from St. James Lutheran’s online ministry.

The first is a link to a daily devotional called, Evergreen. It is a collection of stories, reflections, poems, and prayers that I put together for each day of the Christmas season. There are twelve in all, with a bonus for the Day of Epiphany. It starts on December 25 and continues through January 6. As with all the devotionals that St. James shares, you are encouraged to share the sign-up link with your friends and others in our community. Just be sure that you use this link to sign-up - and there is no cost to you or others.

The second “gift” is pure delight. Last evening, St. James Lutheran premiered the Sunday School Children’s Christmas Program. I trust that you will find delight in the voices and songs of children sharing their love for the Christ child. I share my deep appreciation for our Sunday School director, Patty Seewald, and our AV director, Jeff Andrews for the production of this program. Of course, we also need to thank the children for so enthusiastically sharing their talents. Again, I encourage you to share this resource with others so that they too might share in this joy.

I pray that these virtual resources will help you to welcome this Christmas time. Looking forward to greeting you at one of our Christmas worship opportunities in the coming days.

In Christ’s Light,
