A Time to Affirm Baptism

Grace and peace to you in the name of Jesus Christ!

On Sunday, May 15, we will celebrate with four youth the affirmation of their baptism during the 9:30 a.m. worship. As a community we will gather around Lukas Fuerst, Sara Gastony, Amanda Shero, and Leif Thompson to confirm their faith. It will be a joyous event for their families. And it will be a joy-filled moment for the entire St. James Lutheran community, wherein these young adults have had their faith nurtured.

Affirmation of Baptism (a.k.a. Confirmation) is more than a milestone in the life of young people. It is a time for all the baptized children of God to give thanks for God’s faithfulness and presence in their lives. Together we recall the life-long nature of the blessed sacrament of baptism. At each of life’s transitional moments, God walks with us into what lies ahead. This is good news for us all whether we are teenagers or “slightly” older.

I look forward to greeting you in worship on Sunday however you choose to worship. I’ll be sure to wave to you this week whether in the parking lot or sanctuary (8:00 a.m.) or in the sanctuary or online (9:30 a.m.), or on YouTube at the time of your choosing.

In Christ’s LIght,

Pastor Walt
