A long running daytime drama began each episode with, “Like sand through the hourglass, so are the days of our lives.” And so it is that our days and our lives move on and it is time for me to share this word with you.
Dear Church,
“For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven . . .” so the book of Ecclesiastes reminds us.
A new season is coming for St James as well. Not only the change from Summer to Fall but a new season of life with renewed leadership. Your call committee is continuing to do interviews and the Spirit is at work to bring the next season of St James to life.
I had hoped to be with you until your new settled pastor arrived. However, that will not be possible. It seems the Spirit also has a new season of service in mind for me.
My last day at St James will be Sunday, September 3rd. While this change may seem abrupt, let me assure you it is not taking place without careful planning.
The synod has identified an excellent Bridge Interim Pastor who will be with you in the first week of September. Your council has been in contact with synod leadership and will share with you more specifics about this transition.
I will be working with your council and staff to assure that no programs or initiatives currently underway are neglected. Again, planning has been proceeding and preparations will continue for the Fall.
It has been my privilege to serve among you these past 11 months. Though brief, the times and circumstances of the season we shared have been filled with many wonderful conversations and occasions.
I have truly enjoyed getting to know and work with so many of you over these past months. I will continue to hold the faith community of St James Lutheran Church in my prayers in the days ahead. Grace and Peace to each and to all of you.
Blessings Always,
Pastor Lamont M. Koerner
