“Scripture is the manger in which we find the Christ child.” Bibles will be nestled this Sunday in the straw of a manger. Parents will present a Bible to their child in fulfillment of a promise made at baptism. The Bible is a gift of faith stories and teachings of Jesus that provide counsel and direction to our life. Some people, like Jonah in the First Reading, run away from God—but God keeps gathering people and sharing love. Every Sunday, with Jesus in the Word and Sacrament, our lives are refreshed and strengthened—that is the Good News to share!
